Colorado River Watch Founder: Keynote Speaker

Barb Horn, Colorado Parks and Wildlife Statewide Water Quality Specialist and Founder of Colorado River Watch, will explore the nexus of science, psychology, astrology and spirituality around the topic of matter.  Do you matter?  Does citizen, participatory, or community based science matter?  Matter seems to matter, we like “stuff”.  Ask the atom who you can’t trust because they make up everything. What is our responsibility or our calling to matter?  The phone is ringing, or texting or beeping---what is your answer?  Privileged the past 30 years to work with teachers, youth leaders, students, and other volunteers through Colorado River Watch combined with a lifetime of curiosity and humor, Barb reached her peak at five years old and has been trying to get back there ever since.

Big River Issues Through a Western Colorado Lens: Keynote Zane Kessler

Picture
The Colorado River District was founded in 1937 to serve as the principal water policy and planning agency for the “water resources of the Colorado River and its principal tributaries” within the state of Colorado. The River District serves 15 Western Colorado counties – representing approximately 500,000 people – in an area covering more than 25% of the state. From the Continental Divide to the Utah border, Western Colorado produces 70 percent of the Colorado River’s total water but only contains 15 percent of the state’s population. Mr. Kessler will discuss the role of the Colorado River District in protecting Western Colorado’s water resources from an inter-state and intra-state perspective. Zane Kessler is the Director of Government Relations at the Colorado River District in Glenwood Springs, Colorado.
